Sanctuary Healing Gardens, Scarborough ME
2020 has been a year full of unprecedented stress and anxiety. Our nervous systems have been stretched to their capacities. We have been basking in the sunlight for the past five months, but as we move into the dark seasons, we are bound to be feeling the difficulties of this historical moment profoundly. It is more important than ever that we find ways to carry the sun with us into the darkness.
The autumnal equinox is bringing us into the seasons of Radical Rest, a time when our ancestors followed the rhythms of nature and focused their energies on resting, nourishing their bodies, and buoying their spirits with the power of story and connection by the hearth. They shared meals from their harvest stores and cared for each other as a community. They told stories around the fire and created magic together.
This workshop will explore ways that we can adopt an attitude of Radical Rest during the fall and winter months so that we recharge our spirits and nourish our nervous systems. We will discuss the importance of deep nourishment by incorporating herbs into our foods and daily rituals, explore and create medicine with herbal allies for the dark months to keep our physical and mental bodies healthy, and tend our internal fires by writing about the things that help support our bodies and spirits.
This workshop will be held in open-air space with physical distancing and masks for a maximum of 10 participants. If it is cool, we may circle around a campfire, but there will be plenty of space for people to spread out and connect with the land. Each participant will take home a tea blend and a bit of magic for the darkness. An afternoon snack and tea will be provided.
