spiderweb in garden

So many of us are longing for a deeper sense of connection. We long for sustenance, for belonging. We have lost our direct relationship with the Earth because traditions of growing food and medicines have been lost as our culture has become more capitalistic and less agrarian. Many people are afraid of the natural world, especially as diseases like Lyme become more common. We don’t know what insects do in our ecosystems. We don’t know how plants support the pollinators. But we can reclaim this knowledge through attention, time spent outdoors, and with the help of guides and mentors.

I am lucky to have had the gift of time in the garden with my grandfather during my youth. I remember sitting across the row from him, seeds in hand, taking in his instructions and guidance. I learned to plant flowers next to my food crops. I learned that so much of being a good gardener is being an observer. We attune and we learn to see relationships we never would have noticed before.

When I studied herbalism with Maia Toll in Philadelphia, I came back to my connection with the land. I learned to see nature in the city in ways that made my heart come alive again. I learned more about deep listening and communicating with other beings. I started to believe in magic again.

I want to share these gifts with you. If you’re in Southern Maine and you want to explore what learning side-by-side in the garden might look like, let’s talk to see if this might be a good fit. I am interested in meeting you where your curiosities lie, whether that’s in herbalism, permaculture, or simply how to grow a plant from seed! I am committed to making deep connection to our food and medicine accessible to all people, so whether it’s work-trade, barter, or some kind of payment, I am here to talk about what will work for us both. This would be a weekend or evening offering in personalized time increments to suit both of our schedules. Let’s build resilient community together.
